We are a group of British Columbia residents who strongly believe the emergency needs of the province are underserved. We are proud of the quality of life our province has to offer and we place equal value on the rural areas that provide us with exceptional recreational opportunities and are increasingly becoming our workplaces. When there is an accident or a time of trauma and medical help is not in close proximity, our lives and those of our neighbors could depend on whether we receive definitive medical care in time. That is our reason for forming HEROS.
History
In February 2012, a group of concerned individuals got together to discuss the beginning of a group effort to try to bring a dedicated air ambulance helicopter service to Prince George. In May, the BC Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operations Society (HEROS) was formed by founding directors Vince Prince, Brent Marshall, Brian Spence, Vern Johnson, Gary Gurnsey and Ted Clarke, officially establishing our goal to enhance emergency pre-hospital care. In December 2012, HEROS received the endorsement of the provincial government with supporting advice from MLAs Shirley Bond and Pat Bell. We will continue to form partnerships and strategic alliances with stakeholders to further advance our mission.
